The University of Siena has always been committed to Outreach. This term refers to a set of activities aimed at strengthening the interaction between the academic community, the public, and the territories. Alongside the other two foundational missions of the University - Teaching and Research - Outreach enhances opportunities for exchange, support, and mutual growth. It promotes Technology Transfer and the sharing of knowledge among the academic community, public institutions, businesses, and the third sector. Outreach includes all initiatives related to Public Engagement and scientific dissemination. It also encompasses activities aimed at enhancing historical and cultural heritage, as well as promoting and protecting public health.
The dialogue between the University and the territories represents a strategic dimension that enables the production of benefits for all parties involved and their mutual development. This interaction plays an important role in addressing complex challenges such as sustainability, peace, inclusion policies, and the fight against inequalities.
Public Engagement (PE), which refers to the social impact of the University, involves a multitude of actions and projects whose main goal is the identification and implementation of policies and interventions that enhance knowledge and enable its sharing with all segments of society. The process of collaborative design and creation of cultural and technological transformations that ensues has a significant impact on improving collective well-being.During the academic year 2022-2023, the University of Siena emphasizes the importance of scientific dissemination events and research with a strong impact on the public (Bright-Night) and the need to seek answers to fundamental and pressing questions for the education of students and society (Interrogar-Si).
