Genetics and cellular and molecular biology of skeletal muscle tissue

The research focuses on the study of the molecular foundations that regulate the physiological functioning of skeletal muscle tissue and the alterations in mechanisms leading to the onset of pathologies such as muscular dystrophies and myopathies, as well as metabolic disorders like obesity and diabetes. These studies employ an integrated approach involving techniques from biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, genetics and genomics, confocal optical microscopy. These studies also involve the development and investigation of murine models of diseases.
