In primary cultures of smooth muscle cells isolated from uterine fibroids or normal myometrium (from patients undergoing myomectomy or hysterectomy for symptomatic fibroids), evaluation of cell growth, cell viability, autophagy and its molecular relationships with ER stress, after treatment with autophagy inducers, mTOR-dependent (e.g. rapamycin and analogues) o mTOR-independent (Trehalose), or with autophagy inhibitors (e.g. chloroquine), both in normoxic and hypoxic conditions.
